Green Tuesday campaign donations equal removing 21 tons of toxic blue-green algae

Confidex has sustainability as one of the company’s strategic cornerstones and the intention is to be the ecological thought leader in the RFID industry. As another small step towards this goal was the Green Tuesday campaign that was launched on December 1st, 2020 to raise awareness and to take concrete actions to help our environment.

The Baltic Sea is one of the most polluted seas in the world. Urgent and concrete action needs to be taken on multiple fronts, and time is running out. The John Nurminen Foundation has been dedicated to to save the Baltic Sea for almost three decades now. As a result of the foundation’s projects, the eutrophying phosphorus load to the Baltic Sea has been reduced by thousands of tons, significantly reducing the amount of blue-green algae in the sea.

With Finnish roots, Confidex has a strong connection with the Baltic Sea. Therefore, we decided to direct the donations collected by the campaign to the John Nurminen foundation. In the efforts to save our planet there is no such thing as local problem. The sea connects us all.

The campaign was created with our own partner network as the target group. For each purchase order placed by our partners during the Green Tuesday week Confidex would donate 3 % of the order value to the John Nurminen Foundation. As the result of the campaign we managed to collect the amount that enables the removal of 21 tons of toxic blue-green algae. Still this is just a drop in the ocean, but every step towards sustainable future counts.

Confidex wants to grow profitably while respecting the environment. As a starting point, this requires solid product life cycle based on environmental performance and durability. We are aware of, and responsive to, environmental risks and opportunities. We comply with environmental legislation and anticipate its development. We want to be measured and accountable for our ecological footprint and therefore we are also actively developing ways to improve it.
